Taiji's slow, flowing movements result in better balance, greater flexibility, lower stress, increased circulation, strength and energy. Taiji forms are sequential in nature (learned step-by-step) and have a self-defense application. Qigong offers similar benefits without the self-defense applications or the need to memorize a "form."
Donna Frelick earned her black belt in hsing-i, bagua and taiji from Senior Instructor Joe Miller of Blacksburg, Virginia's Hampton School of Martial Arts in 2004. She has Instructor certification in taiji and in Energetic Movement Arts from the American Internal Movement Arts Society in Blacksburg. She also has a Fourth Degree Black Belt
